The Importance of Intentionality

In his latest book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth,  Maxwell once again challenges readers with new leadership insight. I have been a fan of Maxwell for quite some time, and found his latest book some of his best work.
The Law of Intentionality jumped out at me immediately. Intentionality is an extremely important predictor of growth, and one that I (and many others I know) tend to overlook. You have to make it a point to grow. You need to go out of your way to learn. Oftentimes, it takes a conscious effort to learn from your mistakes. Messing up doesn’t inherently teach you anything–you need to make the choice to learn from it.
Another highlight from the chapter was the importance of doing, not just deciding. The greatest motivation usually occurs when you first decide something. If you wait to do it, it just won’t happen.  Don’t worry about what others are doing, but perfect yourself. Control what you can.
Ultimately I’d recommend this book to any business owner involved in the One-Life Game Plan or any other intensive coaching.
